I am loving our new two tone cardstock! It is hard to see with the Bashful cardstock used in this card, but the one side which is on the inside, is lighter. Vellum is back!! Have you used the Thin Cuts yet? A lot of our stamp sets have the option of Thin Cuts and there are some individual ones such as the Basic Ovals I am using today.
Let’s get started.
The Bashful cardstock is 11”x4”, vellum 5.5”x4”, and the black 2.75” x 2”. Emboss the Vellum with the Rose Embossing Folder then attach to the folded cardstock. I attached only at the top so the ribbon will cover the adhesive.
Open the card and center the 2” oval thin cut side to side and about 1 1/8” from the top. I used washi tape to old it in place since the tape is easy to remove. Now run this through your Cuttlebug, Big Shot etc. (Tip: Make sure the section with the thin cut is completely within the sandwich of the embossing machine and don’t run it all the way through. If you only go as far as the thin cut and reverse to take it out of the machine, you won’t get a crease in the other part of the cardstock. Example of this is on the black cardstock in the next pictures.)
Now to cut the oval frame from the black cardstock. With the 2.5” oval on the black cardstock, center the 2” oval inside. Once you are happy with the placement use washi tape to hold the thin cuts in position on the cardstock. Run this through your embossing machine. Vola, you now have a frame all in one time through the embossing machine!
Before attaching to the card, stamp your sentiment. I used M1186 Happy Birthday and Momento Black ink pad from the new Annual Inspirations catalog.
I found it easier to use the Bonding Memories Glue Pen to attach the frame to the card.
Finishing touches are the ribbon at the top and the Bitty Sparkle over the ‘I’ in Happy Birthday. I also used the corner rounder to round the two bottom corners.
